A Norwegian far-right politician has put forward Mr Trump’s name to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Norwegian politician Mette Frederiksen said that the award should go to a leader who has been able to negotiate the best deal on climate change, nuclear weapons, and war. However, in an interview, Ms Frederiksen revealed that she had received an email from the Nobel Committee inviting her to submit a personal statement to the prize committee.
The Nobel Peace Prize committee said it was unaware of any plans to award President Obama with the prize. A prominent Norwegian politician, Mette Frederiksen, said that the award should go to a leader who has been able to negotiate the best deal on nuclear weapons, climate change and war. However, in an interview, Ms Frederiksen revealed that she received an email from the Nobel Committee inviting her to submit a personal statement to the prize committee. The Nobel Committee did not confirm nor deny that they had sent such an email.
In an email, Mette Frederiksen said that the Nobel Committee was well aware of the current political climate and that she was concerned about the future. Mette Frederiksen said that a Trump nomination would be a tragedy for peace because he is a threat to peace everywhere and has created division instead of peace.
Many political opponents have pointed out that President Obama was able to negotiate the greatest deal in history by taking leadership and working with others. The United States and China have come together to help clean up the world’s air and have made important commitments to reduce greenhouse gases. The United States and China have agreed on the creation of a new international organization to help monitor progress towards the goal of keeping the earth a habitable environment. A Trump nomination would represent an end to the peace making efforts of the Obama administration and would be a real blow to the international community. While many would argue that it is the fault of the Obama administration for a slow down in global warming, a Trump nomination would cause a major shift and it would be hard to undo a shift in climate.
Many have pointed out that the Paris agreement on global warming, the one signed by Obama, does not go as far as a Trump nomination for president might. The Paris agreement is a treaty that a future president could renegotiate.
A Trump nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize would represent a huge blow to efforts to solve global warming. The Nobel Prize winner is widely considered one of the most prestigious awards in the sciences and would represent a huge step back from the efforts to solve the problem. Many countries have recognized that Trump is not someone to listen to and that he would not be able to negotiate a better deal than Obama. If a Trump nomination was accepted the world would lose a giant step forward.
